Stewart Downing scored on his Aston Villa debut in the win against Portsmouth last night in the League Cup.
The 25-year-old signed for Villa in the summer from Boro for a fee of around £12million and returned to action after breaking his foot last April.
It is good to see that Downing is finally back on the pitch after his summer move from Teesside. Now that he is fit he will be hoping to feature for the Premier League side on a regular basis so that he can impress the England boss ahead of the World Cup next summer.
